No country in the world will give you credit for pension contributions you've made in another country. If you haven't earned enough credits to draw from SS in the US when you retire, then you get nothing. Period.
Remember, the SS tax is a tax, not an etitlement. "Paying in" guarantees nothing. By the time you retire, the fiscal health of the SS system may be so drastically different (in part dealing with all the baby boomers) that you really shouldn't count on it even being available in any way that makes a difference in your life.

Have heard good things about Maple Intl. We filed on our own without any agencies. It's not terribly complicated, and certainly not the nightmare that getting a US permanent residence is with its 3-step process of LCA, I-140 petition for immigrant worker and I-485 AOS (or CP).
At times I wonder why they continue with this terribly complicated process in the U.S. - it clearly isn't working, but as long as it keeps the hordes of DoL and USCIS folks employed, I guess it serves its purpose.

The title is pretty self-explanatory. Basically, I want to know whether I can legally continue my GC process in US once I get Canadian PR? What would I have to do? I read the blog from the guy who said he had an address, account in Canada but worked in US. I couldn't tell, though, whether he ended up keeping his Canadian PR...and also - whether he ended up getting the US Green Card in the end?? Appreciate any help!!!

Gandhi Family has changed their strategy since many years and they have a great success in doing so, turning their family from 'king' to 'King maker'. We wouldn't see any claim by Rahul to be PM in near future. Its a smart strategy. Do not overanalyze any bill- All these bills are mere drafts until they come on floor for debate, and even after that they go thru amendments, rewriting, and the final bill comes out in most cases to be very different from the original. Even after the bill is passed in both houses, the committees that are responsible in reconciling the bill will tweak it and fine tune it.
This means that even good provisions can be deleted at any time during the debate, thru an amendment lobbied by the antis- if the EB Community is not vigilant.
To give you an insight: In Dec 2005, there was a line item in a bill that would have recaptured visas for EB applicants, the bill was passed � and at the last minute this provision was deleted.
IF you read through the provisions and the paper that IV created for lobby days in July 2010- Each one of the provisions and the underlying text that IV is asking for has been written with clear understanding of the issues EB applicants face- It is written in a way that if incorporated in any of the bills as an amendment- will give fair and balanced numbers to all categories -EB3, EB2.

I would humbly beg for some clarification because If not one immi friedly bill has come up for debate in the last 3 years what justification is there is the IV charter statement that we will fight for removal of country quota and recovery of unused visa. 1. Birth certificates: They are asking for the Birth Certificates with the application. I and my wife don't have our birth registered in India. Can we provide birth certificates that the Indian embassy sends for this purpose? For US I-485, we were planning to use Non-availability certificates.

Yes... at the time of application the H1B should be valid for at least 1 year.... I got my papers returned to me coz of this. I reapplied once I renewd my H1 for 3 more yrs

I agree with you EB2ROW might have not got 20K visa in the past. That may be because economy was good, lot of EB1 apps, spillover not done properly etc.
But Why not this year? economy is still not good, less EB1 apps and probably USCIS might do the right spillover. It is only hope.

There are few people here trying to mislead the biggest problem. When the Indians support SL Tamils, it is not just ethnic affinity, it is also based on our country's own interest. If India could not handle a country like SL, then what else we can do. I dont like the way India handling this situation, completely ignoring the deaths of thousands of innocent people. Even today, there was bombing on the hospital. It has become common now to bomb schools and hospitals and trying to justify that.
I still find it hard to equate a person death > tens of 1000's of innocent people death.

I have no problem with any individual but I hate my ex employer and their class ( in no uncertain terms ). I was earning for them , but he and his wife used to behave like big boss to me.Why I shed no tears for them. They think themselves as Ambani but will not hire few good marketing folks who can bring projects from direct clients. There business model is like the following example ( joke ). A bihari gone to punjab and started working for sardarji for food and shelter.While he asked the sardarji for food , he said go that building eat as much you want and take this tifin box and pack some food for me too. Just tell them that I have sent you . After some time Bihari came to know that it was Gurudwara and food was lunger. I consider these body shop no different then that Sardarji. Opening a co ( body shop ) requires phone and outlook. WOW. The h1b rules allow a space for them. With this new rule , they are gone for good. Let me make it very clear , I hate body shopper . It is mere chance that they are from particular state. I fully sympathize with all H1B holder and again let me insist all deserving H1b people will be better off with this memo. You made a choice in life fully knowing what you are doing. Now you left your bodyshopper and want to hurt him and feel happy for the rule because you do not want others like you to come to US of A via bodyshoppers.
You know why? Because you do not want other Indians to come behind you and compete with you for jobs.

By expending time on such misguided legislation, you are not only making the immigrants look like cheap opportunistic ****, but also giving enough fodder for the anti-immigrants that we are only looking for our GC without any tangible long term benefit for US (I could pay 20% down, get my GC, and then become a burden on the state).

Here is what I want to understand.
EB2 ROW is CURRENT except INDIA AND CHINA. EB2 ROW will get 28.6% of 140000.
This means 40040. How they are going to divide these visa between INDIA and CHINA?
This is NOT SpillOver. I know there is 7% rule, but other countries are always Current.
And EB1 is CURRENT and considering Bad economy very few cases will be filed under EB1.

You are right on the point. In fact (I may be overly optimistic here), I would not be surprised at all to see PD of EB2I in 2007 or 2008 in the last quarter (Aug-Sept) and it may even see the magincal "C" in Sept 2010. (Making the dream come true for VDLRAO!!)

I had my candadian immigration last year. And the dead line to land was March 2007.
I was very confuse at that time about landing in Canada. Then one day my old 2002 PD labor got approved and I filed 485 in March 07. But now my canadian Immigration is expired.
Even my 485 is filed, I am thinking again to apply fresh application for Canadian Immigration. You never know what will happen to GC. So I will file again by the end of this year for Canadian Immigration.
