Spoke with Amit at USINPAC. Looks like the dude doesn't know any thing and might be a summer intern and Mr Robinder Sachdev is in India right now, I asked for his contact info and he doesnt have it right now. He is trying to get his contact information and also escalating with his higher ups. He said that he is receiving a lot of calls from IV members. Dont fire up on this guy. He is just taking calls. I told him that its unfair to grab/steal credit with out mentioning the source and also pointed out how IV has been renamed to Emigration Voice in the original story.
IV should have a own press release refuting their claims, if we do not hear from them in a day or two. That way we can expose them right away and stop them from doing so again in the future. Other wise, this might become a common thing for them

How long does the IO usually take to review 485 cases (assuming that the case has been pre-adjtd.) ? Gurus...pls post your thoughts

I beleive that the recapture is going to help us a lot.
That number is correct. That is pending I-485's as of Oct 31st. That includes both family based as well as EB. In June 2008, Ron Gotcher wrote a post that EB 485s pending at that time was about 400K (From USCIS statistics - total pending as of June 30th - 740,969). He made that statement after he had a conversation with Mr. Charles Oppenheimer. We sliced and diced that number in one of the thread.

When I called TSC this morning, the automated voice gave the good news - our GC were finally approved on 11/4 after a 7 year wait. Online case update shows the approval, but 140 status still says received and pending.

this poll is a good idea to understand what most of the members expect from CORE. I for one am looking for any updates about (1) new bills being proposed that we can support - calls, faxes etc and (2) any infomation that can help to "predict" whats happening with USCIS efforts to use all visa # (yeah, sorry.. had to use predict and USCIS in same sentence) (3) updates on efforts towards FOIA, country caps remoal, capture of unused #s, .... and anything and everything you can throw at me about immigration...
but I also understand that most of these lobbying efforts are done in the back ground and its not good idea to share anything in these times. who knows, may be there is an anti-immigrant lurking around (ofcourse paying $$ to become Donor, become senior member whatever) to get inside information. I would rather trust the CORE to do their work and give me directions when they see fit.. like meeting local senators etc..

I agree with the fact that we pooled $10K in March for FOIA and core gave the game plan and now everyone who contributed wants to know. fine. but you can't expect core to have a goal a month just to get contributions, this is a grass-roots organization and any highly skilled legal immigrant should be able to donate $25 without waiting for updates every week.. I don't think asking updates every week because you contributed $25 or $50 is fair.. just my thoughts..

I am working on EAD and current one is expiring on Sep 26. I got an RFE for photos and it was received on Aug 7th.
I called last week Aug 15th and requested to expedite the process. I got an email two days back saying that my request was accepted and will get the decision within 14 days.
I been trying to get the infopass appoinment since past 2 weeks but so far I havn't been able to get any appointments.
I am keeping my fingers crossed and waiting.
Can I go to a different city to get an infopass appoinment ?.

But see, just because you did something good, does not mean you should look down upon others!! Doesn't that make sense? :confused:
For example, how would others feel if, say, a person holding a MIT or IIT degree says "These other low end degree holders do not deserve GC before we get it first"? [ Now do not get started on quality of IIT/MIT degree, but it's perceived to be better by most people ], or people with a US degree says "These other indian degree holders should not get GC before we do".
Not everybody could make it to DC, but I'm sure a lot of them supported the cause directly (signing the petition, calling senators, supporting financially etc.) or indirectly (digging stories, telling the collegues and encouraging them, spreading the word etc.). Nobody should HAVE TO give an excuse for not being at DC, and HAVE TO be looked down upon if they didn't go.
What my point is, do not divide the community with "DC Goers" and "The Others".
As for me, no I didn't go to DC, and I don't see any reason to tell everyone WHY [ but I sure hope nobody, NOBODY had the reason I have ].

I agree with you. PenDot does not give online extension for non-immigrants(if it was mentioned originally that you are foreigner when you first got your license). Also they extend visa for H1 only after you get approved extension letter in hand. They do not accept receipt notice. I think they accept i-485 receipt notice to extend you Driving license though.

The flower campaign is apparently working as far as the attention the issue is getting.
If we can manage to send at least 500-700 flowers to USCIS, that will create the kind of attention we want and it will bring the issue of retrogression again on the forefront in Washington DC.
