yes..agreed. But you are forgeting all the new EAD's (H4's) who will be part of the mix.
You have to compete with H4s on EAD (I might be generalizing here so apologies to anyone offended) you've got more serious issues than you have foreseen.
EAD is not a ticket to a high-paying job requiring a certain level of skill.
I feel this thread is going the way of a Programmer's guild forum in that "Now that I'm in the door, stop the offshoring" :D

using a flash is ok, just be careful if you wear glasses (you might need some retakes before you get it right). and turn on red eye removal. 3.2 mp for the size (2x2) of picture is good enough.. Even 1 mp is good enough if you are zooming in to take pictures. but if you are cropping a 1 mp picture to take out surroundings, its better to use 2mp plus camera.
When using a flash you get harsher shadows, to counter that have light source both from left right and top and do the picture in daytime with atleast some natural light. Remember stand atleast 2 feet away from the white background.
Flash results specially in home environment without proper lighting won't be good at nighttime unless you use multiple synchronised flash guns.

6 years for everyone? is everyone's PD 2007? Are they going to issue GC only after 6 years? use a little common sense and you will find that GCs are given based on PD, Older the PD sooner you will get GC. for example a person with PD 2003 will get GC within 6 months.
I am not sure of this but from studying data, I get the impression that the GC are given out on a FIFO system based on when USCIS receives your I-485 (assuming it clears NC) and NOT PD date

to channel all your frustrations and anxiety toward a noble cause. Life is hard. GC is just a milestone, just the way you experienced your first process (H1,J1,F1) to get to the US.
I think worrying a lot about the GC has increased my blood pressure (and I need to relax). :) It is just like the COLTS disease - men are made to worry about the future. ;) IV allows to share your pain with others and also work together for a cause.
Remember life can be worse than what it is for you now (http://anilgeneral.blogspot.com/2008/07/when-going-gets-tough.html) Chill, it is a friday.

Am on H4 since Sep 06. I want to apply for a H1 this year. Can any one of u tell me the procedure? How long will it take for me to get a H1 and start working?

It will be the same process as for every other H1B. It will take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months for regular processing. You have the option of opting for premium processing in which case it will take about 15 days. If you are going to be counted against the cap then you can not start working earlier than October 2007 as thats when the new cap period will start.

I do have very different experience. I never had any issues with the indian consulate. couple of months back I have sent the papers for my daughter's PIO card. With in two weeks I got the PIO in mail.
My experience has been very good, too.
I had family emergency and needed visa to travel to India. Entry Visa (they don't issue Tourist Visa to people of Indian origin) was issued in 1 hour. The staff was very helpful.

Lou has branded an entire national communiy in his hate filled rhetoric. I appreciate that good people differ in their views on immigration, but this crosses the line. H1b is "cheap Indian labor" and "overstay their visas" ??
Lou believes in quoting no facts, just bullishly repeating such views. Nobody who disagrees can ever get a word in. I am a specialist physician with multiple degrees and board certifications. I practice in underserved communities, speak fluent English and pay my taxes. My visa status is and always has been legal. Do I meet the Lou standards? I am waiting in an endless line for a green card that keeps me at the bottom based on my country of birth. So much for Lou's cheap labor! Has everyone forgotten his tacit support for outsourcing in his "other professional life"?
Shame on CNN for allowing this. I, for one, have no further interest in this channel.

Read the two stories for break.
THE BEST LAWYER STORY SO FAR
One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine
when he saw two men along the roadside eating grass.
Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and he got
out to investigate.
He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?"
"We don't have any money for food," the poor man
replied. "We have to eat grass."
"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll
feed you," the lawyer said.
"But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They
are over there, under that tree."
"Bring them along," the lawyer replied. Turning to the
other poor man he stated,
"You come with us, too."
The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said, "But
sir, I also have a wife and SIX children with me!"
"Bring them all, as well," the lawyer answered.
They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even
for a car as large as the limousine was.
Once underway, one of the poor fellows turned to the
lawyer and said, "Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for
taking all of us with you."
The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it. You'll really love
my place. The grass is almost a foot high

Mom comes to visit her son Kumar for dinner.....who lives with a girl

week later, Sunita came to Kumar saying, "Ever since your mother came to
dinner, I've been unable to find the silver plate. You don't suppose
she took it, do you?" Kumar said,"Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure."
So he sat down and wrote :
Dear Mother:
I'm not saying that you 'did' take the silver plate from my house, I'm
not saying that you 'did not' take the silver plate.. But the fact remains
that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.

Several days later, Kumar received an email from his Mother which read

Loved them all but I was torn between eilsoe and kax. kax's shadows are what impressed me most, and if the castle was populated or had a little more color, I might have voted there, but I instead took to eilsoe's because of the people and captions ;) It also embodies more what I think of as 'pixel art', which is very straight or isometric, not to say those that werent wer bad because of that; in fact that gives a more impressive look and feel, but I needed some fun and eilsoe delivered. What shocked me most is that there were more people waiting in line at the mens bathrooms... hmm, guess its mostly guys there. :) The duck reflections were also a nice touch.

I guess MOST of the people are concerned about the quality of photos than $ spent. My friend had RFE because the photos he got from CVS were not upto USCIS specifications. So any + experience is valuable to the forum.

Looking at the .PDFs and the law on spillover, I agree with MPADAPAs analysis. Still hope that there would be spillovers from unused EB visa...sure it will be less compared to last year....but atleast feel/hope it would be enought to get through 2006....atleast for EB2 guys....
