i'm all for this. This is very close to my heart. I probably care more about this than i do, my 485 approval.(can't have one without the other, i know i know. But still.).
I don't know when i'll get my 485 approved, hopefully within the next year. But i'm willing to work on this, whatever it takes - contributions, lawmaker meetings, dc.

This has got to be simple too. When the citizenship law was first drafted, immigrants got their green cards within months of entering the country. Start to end of the greencard process took under a year, if not less.
The intention of the law was to have them learn the language, the ways of the country, and assimilate, which was expected to take about 5 years, before applying for citizenship.
These days the green card process itself take over 5 years for a lot of people. Most indians and chinese in the eb2 category, and pretty much the entire eb3 category have lived here longer than 5 years. In those 5 years they have gone to school here, paid income taxes, bought homes, and learned the language (well they had to, in order to qualify for an employment based green card!). What more "assimilation" do they need to do?
I definitely think that the following should be the criteria for eligibility to apply for citizenship,
- an approved green card
- 5 years of continuous u.s. Residence starting from the date the 485 application was received.
Let's do this.

EAD/AP Approved
App filed date- June 4th 2008-Texas Center
Biometrics done July 2nd 2008
EAD Card Production August 13th 2008

Our contacts in Washington have told us that there is a growing chance of a bill to recapture as many as 90,000 visas. The language of the draft bill that we've seen calls for a full recapture of the unused visas from 2000-04.

As a responsible member of Governance of the Department of Labor, could you please explain to the hard working employees who pay Social Security and Taxes and exist legally in the country, why the Department is not processing their applications for Labor Certifications and Petitions for Legal immigrant status expeditiously?
You are responsible to ensure that these applications are dealt with expeditiously and decisions communicated urgently. Current delays and backlogs indicate irresponsibility and lack of administrative acument on the part of the Department. A search online on the internet will be an enriching and educative experience for you and your Department on the efficiencies of your Department and employees.
You are requested to kindly implement processes and policies that ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in dealing with applications. I, like hundreds of others are unable to understand the delay in adjudicating an application with bonafide requests. Audits requests are perfectly understandable. So is the requirement for responses within 30 days. However, what is in comprehensible is the inordinate delay in review of the requested documents and communicating the decision.
I am hoping this Department will take notice and move towards the path of efficiencies soon. It is unfathomable that a Department of your importance is unable to handle requests of a few hundred applications each month. We have heard of US losing the COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. This is just another example of the same. Lack of concern, skills, efficiency and mental wherewithal to conduct normal order of business efficiently.

Thanks fo rthe reply, in my case, it was not a mistake by the registrar, my grand parents just happened to give ' a name' and when my parents enrolled me at school, they gave my current name. I am not sure, if I hav a official govt doc saying my current name is the changed name from my old name, will this help as a valid document.

Honestly I don't even see a point for these discussions, polls or predictions for EB3-I. The sooner we accept we are doomed the better. The only way out is to help ourselves but I don't think many EB3's are willing to do that.
I spoke to several in my office with earlier EB3 PD's (who might not even get GC's in the next 5-10 years !) and of course with EAD's and they have literally substituted EAD for a GC. They were once a part of IV (and some similar org's ?!) but now have completely lost hope and don't care. I tried to motivate them to join IV and support but they feel that IV does not cater to EB3's anymore. Sadly they are not even trying to port to EB2. They are just content with a job and EAD.

USCIS website allows only attorney or employer to track PERM cases online. There is a way if your attorney or employer make sub-account and give you access to track your PERM application. Trust your employer and ask them to track your case for you. They did same thing for me because they created employer account for themself to track several peoples PERM Cases.

Fourth fact is that USCIS has to see "FIFO" is followed or not. So end effect would be we will see EB3 India progressing from this December till April 2008 bulletins reasonably. EB2 will be put on hold . End result in summary would be both EB2 and Eb3 will be brought to Middle of 2005 by next June bulletin. Once that happens Eb2-I will moving faster with comparision to EB3-I.

Approved today in the most RESPECTED way for both Primary and Derivative.

--No substitution
Called USCIS CS and verified information; and CS opened SR
Has been a long wait. Came in 1999 for MS, straight out of college from home country.
