I will add my $100 & send the checks. One more co-worker will put in $50 through the credit card.
Let us all try like this from our co workers. I think guys do not mind paying but are too lazy to write the check. So we need to chase them...
One more technique, I have used.... give your friend $10 or $20 in cash & ask him to go online and contribute an amount by adding some money to your cash contribution...
Thanks for your efforts

The Murray Amendment failed to make it through in the Senate Appropriations bill due to strong opposition from some senators for adding domestic issues with a war funding bill. The amendment wasn't defeated by vote, it was just that it was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The house bills HR 5882, 5921 and 6039 is gathering good momentum. Please call your own lawmakers, CHC members and the list of lawmakers which IV wants to call. Please call and ask them to co-sponsor these bipartisan bills
We can make it happen.
What amendments got defeated ?? I lost touch of this thread last week.
Do we have any updates on the bills?

Did you sent this letter to DOL? Some of us have been sending a template letter to DOL with the same concerns http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19432 so far a replied letter from them has been received but no action further on. I am planning to push a letter out to more DOL personnel (Inspector General -Gordon S. Heddell- and Mr. James Aaron, of the Employment and Training Administration)

i got an approval email for me and my wife last night.
PD: June 29, 2006
Texas Service Center
Congratulations dude.
What does the status say? "Approved", "Decision", "cards production ordered".. I heard the statuses change from Initial review to Decision, Cards ordered then Approved.
Just curios and keeping my fingers crossed for our case.

Do you know the story of the crow getting to the water by putting pebbles into the jug which had very little water?
Well, here we are: the water is IV's target...the pebbles are the contributions ($200, great, but $20, still good!!) from a large number of members. It's impossible to justify why one can not contribute $200 when the core members and some others like you & anurakt have given so much more. I believe it is equally important to encourage as many members to contribute as much they can.
No contribution is too small if it is actually made. An ounce of action is better than a pound of intention!
Some legislative action is expected in Feb. Money will be needed immediately. I don't think $20/month is the answer.
I think $200 is a very reasonable amount based on the cause. Life is not a charity.
You should pay a total of $200 immediately if you have paid less then $200.

1) Fast-track GC process for Masters degree holders from US universities. This will be the least controversial, boost admissions (and money) flowing into universities, and clear up backlog in regular GC queue. Its a win-win and most senators, congressmen have voiced support for it already. We can get very good support from University lobbyists also (if they exist!!).

Every one is here is emotional, after seeing the beautiful collective work of USCIS/DOS/DOL/AILA ect.. Now AILA is jumping high between sky and earth and due to the mismanagement of system. Everyone knows both USCIS/DOS is mismanaging the process. However, What AILA was doing when DOS issued the visa bulletin 15 days back? Do you thing, AILA did not know the estimate of number of 485s going to be filed in the month of July? Why did not they call USCIS and DOS about the implication of making all categories current? Why did they not advised their client that there is a mistake in VB, it is not possible it will become current in just one month? All of sudden, why they are jumping and collects all the money from customers to file 485?
Here is my estimate how many 485s is going to be filed in July.
BEC has almost cleared all the backlogs. The rough estimate about 200,000 LC might have been certified by BEC. Lets assume about 150K out of 200K candidates held back due to retrogression from 2004 to 2007. Let us assume 150 K PERM LC certified between March 2005 and June 2007 affected by retrogression. Therefore about 300K (primary) people will go for 485 in July. If we add dependents it will be another 450K. Therefore about 750K 485s+ 750K AP + 600K EAD applications will be filed in the month of july.
If 750K 485s filled in one month, we need about 5 years sum of EB visa numbers. It needs 5 years to issue the visa. There should be 750,000 EB visas should be immediately available as on July, to make all EB categories current. There are only 40,000 visas available as of June. Does AILA do not aware of this simple estimation?
There are 40,000 eligible/approvable 485 are currently pending with USCIS. The composition of PD and country of chargeability may vary between 2001 and 2007. In order to issue 40,000 remaining visas to already pending 485s they made all categories current, otherwise it will get wasted. In order to approve a 485 the PD should be current. Thats why they made it current. It is not for accepting 750,000 485s, when available number is just 40,000. AILA should have aware of it and advised the USCIS/DOS and customers properly

Any idea what is the process for pre-approved cases once the priority dates is current? Specially I am wondering if a US CIS office again looks at the file upon PD being current or do these pre-approved cases are approved automatically.

Please feel free to send me a PM, whoever is in my situation. You are right we can have more effect if we work together. Certainly not got much done on my own during the past couple of years. Just keep getting standard letters from senators and congressman.
Sure, I will.
Any one in this forum in the same situation please come forward.

So much so for this roller coaster ride. Here's the political trend I'm seeing for immigration related bills
If a senator introduces a immigration bill, Its put off until CIR. All immigration related bills should be together.
But, when CIR comes to discussion, everyone knows it would never get passed. Too much opposition.
Is this because of color. May be.

I just called all the offices mentioned.
Almost all of them seemed to know what I'm talking about and couple of the offices actually said they have been receiving numerous calls asking the congressman/congresswoman to support these bills and some of them knew the bill number even before i could mention them...so looks like we are getting our point across loud and clear....
