Hi, our first set of APs are expired and we never renewed since we did not plan to go out of the US. Now we need to apply for new AP, is it possible to apply online or since w eMUSt apply by mail since we don't have a valid AP at present.
Anybody in similar situation? Can somebody PM the cover letter to me?

We let our APs expire in April 2009. We applied for new AP (e-filed) in Oct. 2009 and got AP valid for 1 year (from Oct. 2009 to Oct. 2010 - the AP was approved in 22 days). When I applied for new AP online, I don't remember if it asked for previous AP details or not. I don't think it did - even if it did I would have given the valid dates of the expired AP.

Thats true..everybody are bothered about EAD and FP. I am here for more than 8 years in this country. IV should emphasise this and USICS should allow affected candidates like us to file I-485 and atleast get EAD. we have priority date earlier compared to others.
I missed the date by just a week:( .Not sure what to do here . People on the forum seems to be concerned about Fingerprinting and getting EAD's only .
Same situation here too. My husband came to this country in 1999. Filed for greencard in 2004. Labor was sent to philly BEC and it got cleared in September 2007 so we too missed the window too. Not sure what to do

On a separate note, how can you start a thread demanding something from "IV" when you and few other people on this thread, stuck in backlog after 17th August, say that they don't want to volunteer for IV. Please explain why do you expect us to do all the work for you? If you aren't serious then please stop lamenting about your plight.
Join your state chapter and get involved, your active participation is what will strengthen IV and enable us to fix this issue.

Also shops/ people who have purchased substitute labor during the July 2007 window and faked lot of other things and are enjoying Ead's now.
When hundreds of genuine people stuck in EB3 from 2002, 2003 are unable to port or start new applications waiting forever. People with Substitute labor are able to show 3-4 years experience since 2007 and are porting leaving genuine EB2 and EB3 applicants behind.

Thanks. she is still working for the same employer who sponsored her H1. Now, she needs to continue maintaining relation and continue working working them.
I am still worried though.. I read in this and other forums that USCIS may issue RFE asking for proof and if says medical leave, then asking for medical records etc.. So, better to prepare for some 'solid' answer with any loopholes by being honest. I do not think lying would help and may lead to more troubles.

The Telugu news channels certainly dramatize the issue and blow up the story. I sympathize with the students and their parents for the difficult time that they are facing. But, these students are not being tortured like criminals and terrorists.
I believe these students were questioned by the USCIS and released on bail. Because these students are required to give evidence against Tri-Valley, they are released on bail after questioning. They pose a risk of flight and hence they are radio tagged.
If these students were attending classes like thousands of F1 students across the country when the university was shut down, they do not have anything to worry about. They can leave the country or transfer to a different university. If they were legally working as interns in positions that are allowed by the CPT, they still have nothing to worry about.
If these students were working at gas stations and convenience stores across the country instead of attending classes, they have broken the law. They are liable for prosecution. CPT is intended to complement your education with practical training. Working at gas stations and convenience stores does not qualify for CPT. For almost all disciplines except IT & software engineering, working for software consultants on CPT is illegal.
These students bring F1 program and Indians into disrepute. Incidents like this also give ammunition to anti-immigration lobby in this country.

My lawyer is asking 350 for EAD and 500 for AP for each person excluding filing fees.Is it normal.or Can I go to another lawyer for EAD and AP who is cheaper than my company lawyer.
In general they are inclusive ie 485 + EAD + AP for primary is $1000 and for additional is $500 which is a standard.

On the ground level however country limits are actually almost denying (very long wait) retrogressed country folks their GC even if they are similarly qualified. Country limits should have no place in any merit based EB system. I hope that if the amnesty does not have any country limits in CIR atleast EB system should be freed of that, these limits are very restrictive in nature.

As you can see I am EB2-I (info above) and am waiting in line for my turn but I am just wondering if L1 route to GC is quicker? If so then how?
Not that I am trying to do it because I can not :) but I know someone who just got his GC via L1 in matter of months and here we all EB guys are waiting..

I know people (Indian) who have applied for EB1 after being in L1 for a couple of years and got the GC in 6 months. There is a category for International Manager (or something similar) that qualifies them for EB1.
