    Guys who r going 2 get married after August 17th and have their PD after Dec 2006 and have atleast 2 years of H1-B period left!!Y apply 485 now and wait for atleast 3 to 4 years to apply your spouses. The way I see it you can only apply your spouse's 485 when the PD becomes current again!!Instead y not wait 3 to 4 years and apply simultaneously!!Atleast give the guys who have older PD's a break!!

    it depends on who is in which category ..I feel the above (1 -2 -3) is unjust ..not that I/we can influence how it flows. my view is that the category which is at the end should get more visas ...and I would support this even if things change tomorrow (EB3 current and EB2 severly retrogressed or EB-wwide - retrogressed ..not that it will ever happen !!)

    Based on what?

    EB1 is more qualified than other categories and is seen as someone who is in a better position to contribute to the national welfare of the country. EB3 is the least qualified of the three and is also the most likely candidate to displace an American.

    And you think America should throttle the flow on qualified EB1 and be more generous with EB3?

    EB2 is different however. Most EB2 are people who were EB3 earlier (like myself). For such people, there is a provision to upgrade to EB2 through interfiling - as option that is being heavily used even as we speak. So where is the problem?

    You are not the only one....my application was also sent on July 2nd and I got FP notices (both my wife and I) and AP approved (both my wife and I).
    My wife received EAD on 10/22 and so far there has been absolutely no update on my LUD and EAD application is still pending. The service center is Nebraska and I am the primary applicant. I think there a a lot of people in the same boat.

    I'm on the same boat and I scheduled an INFOPASS apt and she asked me about biometrics for my I765 and I showed the receipt which I have done for my I485. She immediately responded saying is was for I485 and you need to do one for I765 and then your EAD card will be approved. My bio is scheduled for 01/26.

    The poll shows that there are substantial number of cases from Yr 2004 or earlier. This shows that the Dates will be going back in October Visa bulletin. If the number of applications are 50 times of the polled numbers, then also it will take 2-3 years to clear the Yr 2004 and earlier applications.

    If you look at THOMAS it actually shows that Yeas are 55 and Nays are 40
    So the bill passed the voting ....
    but it failed because it was ruled "out-of-order" and hence rejected ...
    I dont know why it was ruled out of order ... maybe because it was attached to the defence spending bill so it was not the right place to put in this kind of amendment....

    I hope that Yeas mean YES and Nay mean "NO" or I need to get my head examined

    I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.

    I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

    Maybe this 30-60-90 rule applies to people with Consular Processing or someone who enters this country on Employment based GC and who leaves the employer right away after coming here.

    For majority of people here in US, they might have already worked for a given employer for 3-6 years before they filed 485 and got their GC and completed their 6 months after AOS application to kick in AC21. So for such a person who has sustained abuse by working at the petitioning employer for 3-6 years, does he need to show any more intent?

    Because of my one of the diseases I am always worried about DISABILITY insurance.
    I always try to get Short term and Long Term disability insurances through employer.

    But the problem is they always start with long preexisting exlusions and when you change jobs they dont continue so have to start new one which also has other new preexisting exlusions to start.

    You can convert your longterm disability to the personal policy if you have that for long time. but they are not valid if you get new job.

    Is there any private/personal (not employer sponsored) Short and long term DISABILITY Insurance policies that we can purchase out side of the job.? How are the premiums? Are they reliable?

    also do any of you know case where LIFE INSURANCE was actually paid and how easy/hard the process was for family?

    Also similar experiences if some one know if any one used DISABILITY INSURANCE and how hard it was?

    You are correct when you look at early years only. But for the longer term whole life is better. Yes for short term Whole life can be very bad.

    Pros:

    Predictable, in most cases premiums are fixed for the life of the insured.
    The beneficiaries receive the death benefit no matter when the insured dies, as long as premiums were paid.

    If you surrender the policy at a later date, the cash value, if any, will be returned to you.
    If you stop making premium payments you can receive the cash value or use that cash value to provide a paid up insurance benefit. The company must provide either extended term insurance coverage or reduced paid paid-up coverage. While it is not required that both options be offered many companies do make both available.

    Cons:

    A more complex product than term life insurance.
    Higher premiums than term life insurance.
    Could be costly if coverage lapses early. (You don't want to cancel early and if you are not sure then never take Whole Life. If you are planning for long term only then take Whole life)
